Opening Day Edition (3/29/11)

Hola PoolDawgians!

Just two more days until my favorite day of the year - MLB Opening Day 2011.  Now I know that some feel the national passtime is a little too slow moving, but for me there's nothing better than going to a ball game, grubbing on some peanuts, hot dogs, nachos and imbibing a cold one.  Here at PoolDawg we even have our own tradition of grilling burgers, brats and dogs on Opening Day every year.

Since it is that time of the year, and it is time for your weekly dose of DawgMail, you know what's coming - an absolutely shameless promotion of offcially licensed MLB billiards gear.

New York Yankees Pool Cue

Since the Yankees are by far the best selling team in baseball, I suppose I have to include them and their $200 million payroll in this email.  What really blows my mind though is that the team manages to outspend everyone and still can't lock down five solid starters.

As much fun as it is to clown on the Yankees, you can't help but be a fan of Derek Jeter.  If only my Dodgers had a leader like Jeter on their team...

Philadelphia Phillies Pool Cue - $79.95

Since they're the favorites to win the World Series this year, I sorta felt like I had to include them.  Plus, how can you not love Cliff Lee for turning down more money in order to go back and play in Philly.

If you are going to a Phillies game, I highly recommend taking the secret tunnel that runs between the Holiday Inn and Citizen Bank Ballpark and steer clear of the riot punch.

Los Angeles Dodgers Pool Cue - $79.95

There aren't many things I miss about living in Los Angeles, but going to Dodger games is definitely one of them.  Chavez Ravine, Dodger Dogs and watching Cey, Russell, Lopes and Garvey go around the horn is how I remember my summers.

Now if Keven was writing this email, he'd be pimping the Brew Crew or if Alexis stepped up to the email plate, it would be the Rockies, but since they aren't willing to, that means I get to wax nostalgic about my Dodgers.  Think Blue!

Chicago Cubs Pool Cue - $79.95

Since Keven is a Brewers fan, he has a natural hatred for the Chicago Cubs, which makes it even more fun to promote the Cubbies in this email.  I just don't understand how you can't like (or at least have sympathy for) the Cubs.

Plus, watching a game at Wrigley is one of the classic experiences that every die hard baseball fan should have on their bucket list.

Boston Red Sox Pool Ball Set - $175.00

With the Red Sox, there is no middle road.  You either love 'em or you hate 'em.  Since my momma taught me that if you can't say anything nice, yadda, yadda yadda, I'll just say that we have these very cool new home and away ball sets with the team's official colors and logo.  If you don't happen to be a Sox fan, we carry these new sets for every MLB team, so be sure to check 'em out!
