Spooky Skulls Edition (10/16/12)

Howdy PoolDawgians!

I know what you're probably thinking.  How does Halloween tie in to pool?  At first glance, it doesn't seem very natural.  After all, it's not like you can trick or treat for billiards accessories.  When you think about it though, it makes perfect sense and I'm gonna tell you why.

What's the single most popular cue design theme?  Skulls.  What do you see all the time with anything Halloween related?   Skulls.  What am I going to pimp in this week's emails?  Why skulls of course.

After you're done checking out all the skulltastic cues and cases, be sure to read Liz Ford's new article discussing common 8 ball mistakes to avoid.  On the off chance that you want to see more skull cues than what we've listed in this email, check out our complete selection of over 30 cues.  And away we go!

Adventure ADV60 Pool Cue

Ah, the ADV60.  This bad boy is seriously old school.  It's been in the Adventure line for a long time, but that doesn't take away from it's supreme awesomeness.

Seriously, how cool is this stick?  You've got a giant stack of skulls running down the forearm, more skulls in the sleeve, a pressed black and white Irish linen wrap and a layered leather tip to boot.

Eight Ball Mafia 3x5 Hard Case

Those Eight Ball Mafia guys always come up with the sweetest designs.  This new case is a riff on the Elite Nexus style, holding three butts and five shafts in a poured mold and features lots of pockets for all your billiards accessories.

What really makes this case though is the skull.  Just below the top latch, you get a 3" tall by 2.5" wide metallic skull.  Not a screen printed skull but an actual metallic skull face attached to the case.  I've never seen a case like this anywhere.

Voodoo VOD18 Pool Cue

When it comes to skulls, Voodoo's got it goin' on.

In the new VOD18, not only is absolutely covered with skulls, but it also has some sort of sweet razor blade chain design.  As they say though, that's not all!  All the engraved designs are painted with real gravestone paint.  Seriously, where else are you going to find a pool cue painted with gravestone paint but on Voodoo cues?

Predator 1080 Pure Chalk

Ok, so this has nothing to do with this week's topic, but we just got some in stock, so I wanted to let ya'll know about it since so many people have been asking about it.  In fact, we paid a bunch of extra dough to get it aired in from Predator just so our loyal PoolDawgians could have first crack at it.

Predator's entry into the super premium performance chalk is brand new and looks pretty sweet.  We haven't had a chance to test it out yet, so we're hoping to get lots of feedback on this one.  Please be aware that the stock we had in was limited and we don't have an ETA available on our next shipment.  Not to sound like a pushy salesman, but seriously, if you want some, I wouldn't sit back and wait too long.

Liz Ford - Strategy! Five Common 8 Ball Mistakes

A little bit of knowledge goes a long way, especially when playing the game of 8-Ball. 8-Ball isn't just a shooting contest – it's a chess match and you don't want to get caught playing checkers! Use a few wiles while playing and you could avoid these five common conceptual game-killers.

Misconception #1: I should try to run out every time. Not every rack is a good candidate for a run-out due to excessive traffic, clusters and other problems. Even the best players in the world won't attempt to solve the Rubic's cube of some 8-Ball racks in one turn because the balls are laying in such inaccessible positions... keep reading
