Kind of have to grind it on instead of the controlled stroke application your supposed to use to put your chalk on with. Be prepared to scuff your tip alot to get this to stick.

  • 0.3 product Brian Hernandez 2013-01-01" 1.0 5.0 3 I wish this book had offered the wealth of knowledge some of the other books I have read on pool have in them. I felt some of the subjects were simplied and lacked depth. The saving graces for me are that the diagrams are in color. They tend to draw more attention and are eye pleasing in color. I just wanted more examples than I was given here. There were a few subjects I haven't seen in other books such as eye coordination and being color blind I found interesting. Who knew you could exercise your eyes for better vision or get shaded glasses for people like me who are partially color blind to compete better. There is definitely information in this book but I would either make this book my introduction into pool playing literature or pick it up specifically for ending chapters on exercises attitude and eye coordination.

  • 0.3 product Brian Hernandez 2013-01-01" 1.0 5.0 5 Robert Byrne is my favorite author on pool. This book doesn't disappoint. When he writes he puts in little jokes and comments that keep you drawn in and attentive. I found the chapters being separted into shot application an easy way to go straight into a shot type you want to drill. Some diagrams go over simple application and some border on trick shot status. Byrne even admits some shots are long shots and you should be looking at the concept for position play. Robert Byrne has a strong background in three cushion billiards. So if your looking for ways to get around the table better you found it. There is only a small section on shot selection and strategies on eightball and nineball. Though there is a section where ten shots to drill for perfect position are offered. This book has a wealth of knowledge. Getting may of these shots to work can be frustrating. If I was a beginner looking for a book to start with I would start with byrnes ''Standard book of pool'' before I jumped into Complete book of pool shots. The concepts in this book are more for intermediate and advanced players. Otherwise prepare to drill alot and be frustrated.

  • 0.3 product Brian Hernandez 2012-12-30" 1.0 5.0 5 Amarath cueballs are great for true roll and grabbing spin. This ball is great for drilling. The feature of the cueball being able to hold your chalk so you know exactly where you strike the ball to where your aiming is a great way to test your mechanics of your stroke. Putting english on a cue ball can change shots because of squirt deflection and the throw your putting on a ball. The booklet that comes with the ball touches on these concepts. Then its just practice and application. Love this cueball. You can really get it to zip.

  • 0.3 product Brian Hernandez 2012-12-30" 1.0 5.0 5 I have had my case for about 2 years now. It has a solid tube style feel to it. I have tons of room in it. I carry around extra chalk a tip shaper retiping tools a bridge head and still have room for an envelope for league play. Wish I had gone with a color other than the black I have. Then I could find it easier during the end of leagues or easy to spot during tournaments. Overall a great case and I have been very pleased with it.

  • 0.3 product Brian Hernandez 2012-12-30" 1.0 5.0 5 The Moori medium tip is the tip I play with. I love it. The two I have used have lasted a long time. They retain shape well and only really wear down from scuffing and reshaping to hold chalk. Witch seems to be periodically because it goes back to a glassy sheen if you like to give a good stroke to the ball. Your best friend is going to become a tip pik or tapper. I found it hard to get them to stay on the cue. I want to try a Ferrule leveling tool and probably use super glue gel to get it to stick to my viking again. Slighlty scuff the flat ferrule and the side of the moori labeled to be glued down make sure they stay flat though. Otherwise frustrating trying to get the tip to stay on my cue. You live and you learn. I have only tried to play with the morri medium but the medium tip plays like most other tips hards. I have played with a le pro to this and its apples to oranges. I feel like my morri lasted longer than my buffalo tip and has a harder hit. If you like your hard tips morri tips are going to make you happy.

  • 0.3 product Brian Hernandez 2012-12-30" 1.0 5.0 4 I really wanted to try a phenolic tip when I bought this cue. I wasn't disappointed with the hit. I can crush the balls on a break. I need to make sure you stay close to center ball hit with a phenolic tip and chalk the cue because its like hitting the cue ball with a rock. Its easy to misscue otherwise. Its funny to watch other people try to use it to break after they see me use it because you have to practice with the cue a bit before bringing it to leagues to break. The cue jumps balls awesome. Where I could jump partial balls with my regular cue I can pop over full balls six to eight inches away no problem fairly consistently. This cue made learning to jump balls fun and easy. Sadly it warped on me a bit within the first year. I didn't store it perfectly but I did have it in my case with my playing cue and my viking is fine. So store it well. The phenolic tip isn't just glued on its binded on with some wrap material to the ferrule. So getting your tip to stay on the cue wont be a problem and it has a shiny pattern graphics to it. I only say this because I have tried to glue a phenolic tip onto a cue before and several different glues wouldn't get the tip to stay on a cue. Worth saving yourself the time and effort to get a ready to go phenolic tipped cue than try to put one on yourself.

  • 0.3 product Brian Hernandez 2012-12-30" 1.0 5.0 5 The first thing you want to realize when you read the 99 critical shots in pool is Ray ''the cool cat'' Martin is a champion of straight pool. If your an eightball player your going to see application for some of these shots very rarely in game. The principles you can learn from some of these shots will serve to shock beginners and intermediates when you do pull off an upset shot when they thought there wasn't a shot on the table. As in many tutorial books the shots are supposed to build on each other. Some of these concepts are easy but I had trouble learning many of them before I really learned what a good stroke felt like and what ''speed'' to play the shot at. Know the speed of your table is going to affect how hard of a stroke to use to pull the shot off. An advanced player mentoring you through this book will speed you though it alot faster. The hardest part about picking things up from this book is its very basic and bland. The book is black and white. The angles and contact point are generalized on many of the shots. The speed and amount of english is also left to experiment with. There are many tips on cueball control shotmaking and finding a shot in a hopeless cluster. The problem is you better be ready to practice alot of trial and error. Get a good basic fundamental stroke and a concept of speed from someone who knows what they are talking about before you start your journey to excellence from this book. Then watch your game progress in leaps and bounds.

While I enjoyed the read I don't know how much it actually help me be a better pool player. Depends on how much you can pull out of a self help book I guess.

The Goldmine of this book is the author transfers an easy application of phyics to shots. You get percentages of making shot from distance to cue ball to object ball and angle. The author explains possition play better by an explaination of why the cue ball is rolling with this much energy with what english and what angle off of the object ball. Beginners will get a goldmine of information that learning on the table would take hours and months to years to learn that understanding principles will give you a leg up on why and how. Advanced players will find alot of information that would be considered common knowledge. If your having trouble with specific shots or concepts the book goes into deep explaination of hows and whys. There are alot of diagrams charts and examples. I was a bit disappointed the book didn't go into masse shots and jump shots deeper. All in all I enjoyed the information I recieved from this book. A good bang for my buck.
