I purchased the "Black Cue Ball" as a novelty item, and after playing several games with it did not find it confusing in any way. It requires a bit more attention for your game, realizing something has changed, but after your first shot, you find it does everything the white ball does. The first time you place it on the table, it does create a bit of conversation. It's fun to try something new and different.

It's a nice change to the usual white ball your used to hitting. My pals think its pretty cool. Just be sure to use it along with a different color 8-ball, the reversed white 8-ball for example.
