Anyone who has called PoolDawg's worldwide headquarters and been put on hold has undoubtedly been subjected to the timeless classic tune "Suzy Q" by Creedence Clearwater Revival. While there's nothing better than rocking out to a little CCR while you're waiting to order some new pool cues and billiard accessories, the question has come up as to why we've had the same song on a 45 second loop for the past 3 years or so.
The answer can be summed up with the following picture:
This is our phone system. It's called "Sold on Hold". I believe it is in fact as old as the CCR cassette tape that I'm holding. We'd love to change the music, but that means we'd have to find another cassette tape. We looked through our old tapes we had laying around and the choices were CCR, Barbara Steisand, a Bing Crosby Christmas album and some Barry Manilow.
Now if it was up to me, I would've bumped some "Copacabana", but I was told that this would have a negative impact on our hold abandonment rate, so I let the cool kids choose the hold music. I'm going to have to check my crawlspace back at home though, because I'm pretty sure I've got the soundtrack for Saturday Night Fever laying around somewhere...
