As a person who loves pool, some of my favorite gifts have been pool related. My most memorable gift of all time was my first pool cue at the age of 15, it was a black & green Lucasi.

Whether you are shopping for that special someone, the hard to shop for teenager or even yourself (yes you should give yourself gifts!) this article might give you an ah-ha moment! Here are my top 5 gift ideas that pool players of all levels are sure to love, lucky for you PoolDawg has most of them!

THE SURE TO PLEASE PRESENT- A NEW PLAYING CUE

For the beginner: Focus on the person’s style & get something that is not hybrid, then they will evolve to new cues over the years.  Lucasi cues are an excellent option.

For the intermediate: When I started to play competitively I switched to play with a Predator cue. With the low-deflection technology it benefits a more skilled player & the name in the pool world speaks for itself.

For the advanced: GO CUSTOM! After 15 years of owning cues there was nothing like the feel of designing my own this year with a skilled custom cue maker. This option will take a little bit more time, planning, & money, but it will make that special someone overjoyed & the result is a one of kind present. This unique gift is also a perfect one for yourself because you can be in control of exactly what you want. If you are buying for someone else I recommend getting them involved in the process, for the surprise element you could create a certificate & put it in a card or box! My cue maker is Steve Klapp out of North Carolina- with his classic style, American wood, & top notch attention to detail you won’t be disappointed.

THE VERY POPULAR BREAK CUE or JUMP CUE or BREAK/JUMP CUE

Recently my boyfriend me got a Predator BK3 Break Cue as an exciting surprise gift & proved once more how sweet & thoughtful he is. For the pool enthusiast a shinny new break cue or jump cue is a top notch gift, especially if they don’t already have one! Why would you need a different cue to break with? Well if you play a lot of pool, you break a lot, break cues are designed to better withstand the constant impact of the force of breaking. Using a break cue will also ensure that you don’t wear down your regular playing cue’s tip as quickly. Watch someone jump with a cue like a Predator Air Jumper and you will understand why players use a jump cue.

POOL CASES ARE A WORK OF ART

For the beginner: Get them a case that will hold one of two cues like the Action 2x2 Hard Case which is simple, clean & comes in many different colors

For the intermediate or advanced: Get them a 2 X 4 or more so they can hold more cues & a jump cue. I prefer a Predator style cue case or a vintage style from a brand like Instroke.

POOL APPAREL: FUN, COMFORTABLE, ONE-OF-A-KIND

This gift takes knowing the size, style & preference of the person you are giving to, but if you know these things you cant go wrong. Over the years pool clothing lines have developed into a fashionable option for competition & day to day dressing. Check out the apparel section at PoolDawg here.  I also recommend Focused Apparel, sure to be American made & of high quality!
