Billiard Ball Polish and Restoration

Have you ever been playing or practicing and noticed that the balls seem to skid on you, or maybe they aren’t very responsive, or maybe they just look dull and not as shiny as when you first got them?  Well, I wanted to share some methods and products with you today that are designed to help you keep your set of billiard balls clean, shiny and playing like new.

I would like to discuss the various products available for cleaning, polishing and even restoring the shine and playability to your set of pool balls.  We will assume this process is being done by hand, unless you are lucky enough to own a billiard ball polishing machine.

I mean of course Aramith is my number one choice for Polish and Cleaning products.  After all, Aramith does make the best playing and best-looking sets of billiard balls in the world! My personal favorite set is the Aramith Tournament TV set.

I would like to stop here and mention a few DO’s and DON’TS:

Do's

  • Wipe down regularly: Use a damp, soft cloth after each use to remove chalk and dirt.
  • Always use a specialized cleaner: A billiard ball cleaner and restorer can help remove tough grime and restore shine.
  • Scrub gently: Use a soft microfiber cloth or sponge to scrub the balls. Avoid abrasive scrub brushes.
  • Buff for shine: After cleaning, buff the balls with a clean, dry microfiber or cotton cloth to restore their gloss.

Don'ts

  • Avoid harsh chemicals: Do not use bleach, ammonia, or other harsh household cleaners, as they can damage the ball's surface.
  • Do not use abrasives: Never use abrasive scrubbers, steel wool, or anything that could scratch or dull the finish.
  • Don't use alcohol-based products: These can damage the material the balls are made of.

ARAMITH BALL RESTORER

The Restorer will remove the very stubborn dirt, grime and scuffs.  It is slightly abrasive like an extremely fine buffing compound.

Directions for use:

As always, shake the bottle well before using.  Then Apply a drop of Aramith Restorer to the ball.  Using a clean dry towel, rub well.  Pay extra close attention to those scuffs and stubborn bits of chalk residue.  Wipe vigorously with a dry microfiber cloth.  This just a cleaner/restorer, once completed you will then need to apply the Aramith Ball Polish too seal and shine the balls to a like-new luster.

ARAMITH BALL POLISH

Regular use of Aramith Ball Cleaner will keep your Aramith phenolic billiard balls polished and lustrous for years to come!

This Polish is so easy to use! Simply, shake the bottle well before each use.  Then apply the cleaner to the ball (a small drop is plenty).  With a cloth rub well.  Finally, using a dry cloth to buff will make the ball shine.

Ball Polish

If you have an older set of pool balls that are maybe dull or starting to fade, try the Aramith Ball Restorer.

Important notice: The Aramith liquids are silicone free

ARAMITH MICROFIBER CLOTH

The Aramith Micro-Fiber Cloth is an exclusive product designed for professional billiard ball maintenance to use in combination with the Aramith Ball Cleaner and the Aramith Ball Restore, when polishing by hand.

Ball Polishing with Aramith Cloth

The Aramith Micro-Fiber Cloth is much more than a regular cloth. It is made with a high resistance, strong fiber with “W” anchorage within the textile structure; this velvet structure means no fibers will be lost on the ball surface. It also absorbs 4x its weight in water! 8x its weight in grease!

The curly shaped fibers easily remove dust from the ball’s surface and capture dust into the microfiber through electrostatic effect due to friction on the ball’s surface.  After using it, you can wash in soap and water at temps up to 60’C / 140’F without risk of shrinkage or damage.

I hope these products and techniques will help you keep your pool ball set clean, shiny and playing at peak performance for years to come.

Until Next Time…
