Pool Cue In A Blender? OH NOS!!!

I love the Blendtec videos.  They're funny, they're clever and they go viral just about as soon as they're released.  They've blended just about everything you can imagine to show how crazy good the Blendtec blenders are.  iPhones, video games, Kindles, glow sticks, Silly Putty.  You name it, they've probably tried to blend it. This of course leads to the question of what would happen if you stuck a pool cue in a blender. The good folks at Blendtec…

Inside the Mezz WD700 Shaft

Another busted shaft, another opportunity to dissect a shaft.  This time, we're looking at the Mezz WD700 shaft.  One of the folks that works here had her ferrule crack on her, so we took off the tip and ferrule to see what was inside.  Here's what we found: As you can see, the top of the shaft is filled with a foam core.  This is a similar tactic that other shaft makers have used, with the focus being to make the front of the shaft as light as possible…

What’s Inside A Predator 314 Shaft?

Last summer, we had the opportunity to check out the innards of McDermott's G-Core shaft.  Well, thanks to the folks at UPS, we have another shaft to look at - The Predator 314 shaft.  What's interesting about this shaft isn't so much what's inside, but what's not inside it.  As you can see, the end of the shaft is actually hollowed out. This doesn't run down the whole shaft though, as it only occurs in the front five inches or so.  The rest of the…

Destroying Shafts For Your Reading Pleasure

Every now and again, we'll have a situation where we get a product back in less than tip-top shape.  Now we could just toss these damaged items in the garbage, but we're far too curious for that.  Needless to say, when a cracked McDermott G-Core shaft came to us, I decided to see what's inside. Before you look at these pictures, try to keep in mind that I haven't whittled  since I was a kid at Jameson Ranch Camp and that I'm working with a box cutter instead…
